Mission Statement

Portland Habitat for Humanity is a team of enthusiastic volunteers, guided by Christian values, who are committed to assisting families in need with the life-changing opportunity of buying decent, affordable housing. Portland Habitat for Humanity works through partnerships with these families and the community as an expression of God's love in action. As the local affiliate of a national and international charitable organization, we strive to build new hope and a renewed sense of community.

History

Since we started in 1988, the Portland chapter of Habitat for Humanity has built ten homes for local families in the Portland School District. Volunteer labor, as well as an interest-free home loan, has assured maximum affordability for these10 families. Over 100 volunteers typically contribute their time to complete a home and the family that will live in the home also contributes at least 500 hours of labor towards its completion.
